My Yard (First Of Three)
Petunias before I cut them back by 1/3.....Taken 8/10/06
(I cut them back when they start getting leggy and scant of flowers in the center; in a few weeks they are solid flowers again.)

Toni - do you start these from seed or buy nursery transplants? If so, how early do you set them out? We will be moving to Sandpoint this winter from Texas and I need LOTS of N. Idaho gardening tips. Your pictures are an inspiration!

Karen: Hi.....
I bought them from seedlings at the nursery. I put most of them out in the middle of May, knowing full well, we would get a frost, so brought them all into the garage at night; covering the rest. We had one night of 24 degrees and even the covered ones froze, but it didn't kill them, petunias are pretty hardy, I guess. I have to tell you Texas gardening is nothing like Idaho gardening. We came from Minnesota 31 years ago, so I was used to cold weather gardening. You can email me if you like. My address is in the sidebar.
